If you’re a small business owner, you need to know about the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development’s (MLTSD) reimbursement program for Health and Safety Representative (HSR) training. If you’re not a small business operator, you probably know someone who is. Do them a favour and pass on this important information.
E-Learning Program for HSRs
Ontario’s Occupational Health & Safety Act stipulates that employers with 6 to 19 employees must have an HSR.
The Health & Safety Representative Basic Training E-Learning Program assists HSRs in performing their legislative functions. This e-course was developed through collaboration between the MLTSD and health and safety system partners.

Effective July 15, 2021, the Ontario government, through the Small Business Health & Safety Training Program, will reimburse small businesses for:
The $25 course registration fee for a worker HSR
$150 towards the representative's training time
The $25 course registration fee for a worker HSR
To qualify for the reimbursement, a business must have 6-19 employees. Businesses can apply up to two times with a second allowance permitted for staff turnover. Franchises of the same corporation with unique business numbers are also eligible for funding.This e-learning course enables HSRs to learn at their own pace and in their
own environment.
